Madison police are investigating a battery on Spring Street that occurred after bar-time Saturday evening, a police report said.
According to the report, a 23-year-old Madison man was walking home from the bars around 2 a.m. Sunday morning when he was attacked by several men who police believe to be white and in their early 20s.
The confrontation occurred on the 900 block of Spring Street and the victim was intoxicated at the time, the report said.
According to the report, the victim was punched in the head several times. Police reported the victim originally believed the assailants had stolen his cellphone, but he later found the phone still in his coat.
The victim was unable to give police a detailed description of who attacked him. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the Madison Police Department.
