Pedestrian killed by truck in Mendota Court collision

A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a delivery truck driven by a University of Wisconsin student on Mendota Court Thursday, Madison police said.

According to a report from Channel 3000, a UW truck was backing up at North Lake Street and Mendota Court when it hit a woman behind the vehicle. The call came into dispatch at 10:30 a.m.

Madison police on the scene told The Badger Herald the women was taken to the hospital, where she died.

The investigation is ongoing.

Update 12:10 p.m.: Police on the scene have confirmed the vehicle involved in the accident was a Wisconsin Union delivery truck.

Update 12:25 p.m.: Police are confirming the victim was a middle-aged woman employed by UW.
