The victim’s injuries were non life-threatening according to a Madison Police Department report.

Joel DeSpain, MPD spokesperson, said the bicyclist was in the bike lane and not at fault. Madison Fire Rescue, the University of Wisconsin Police Department and the MPD were on the scene to transport the victim to the hospital.

WEST MIFFLIN STREET

Stolen Car

A farmer’s market vendor reported his vehicle stolen early Saturday afternoon after leaving the vehicle unlocked with keys in the ignition.

The vehicle had been parked near the Madison Senior Center on West Mifflin Street, an MPD report said.

Police received a phone call from a concerned citizen later that evening saying a person driving the stolen SUV was driving recklessly, the report said. Officers responded and performed a high-risk traffic stop that found the driver was intoxicated.

A number of opened beer cans and bottles of liquor were found inside the car, the report said.

“We have reason to believe that he used cash and checks inside the vehicle to purchase the alcohol,” DeSpain said.

SILICON PRAIRIE PARKWAY

Residence Burglary

A 22-year-old woman reported her Silicon Prairie home was burglarized Friday morning.

The woman said she recognized one of the burglars, an MPD report said.

The intruders entered the victim’s home around 10:15 a.m. and asked for money. They left the home with electronics and other items. DeSpain said the investigation is still underway.

“[The investigators] do believe that the residence was specifically targeted.” DeSpain said.

The victim was not injured in the burglary.

TURBOT DRIVE

Intoxicated Person

A 76-year-old man reported two unknown men arrived at his home and repeatedly rang his bell Friday night.

One of the suspects left after the resident yelled at them to exit the property. Police later found the second suspect unconscious with a blood alcohol content level of 0.559, an MPD report said.

The man was transported to the hospital without identification and later left against doctors’ advice, according to MPD reports.

“No crime was committed,” DeSpain said. “It sounds like they just picked the wrong place.”

PFLAUM ROAD

Intoxicated Driver

A vehicle traveling at 52 miles per hour on Pflaum Road was pulled over Monday morning by an MPD officer performing a random speed check.

The officer determined the driver was intoxicated, the police report said.

According to an MPD report, the driver was cited for his fifth offense of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, speeding and operating after revocation.

“The driver was also cited for operating while under the influence with a prohibited alcohol concentration, but that also falls under drunken driving,” DeSpain said.
