UW Archery Club

Started in 2004 by a UW faculty member, the Archery Club provides students and faculty with a new sport that most have never tried before according to UW senior and former president Rob Dugenske.

Although archery is a form of recreation that many people have never tried, through practice and repetition you can develop enough technique to become competitive in a short time, Dugenske said.

Dugenske is also working to petition UW to reinstate an archery class at the university.

The League of Distinguished Gentlemen

A new club started this fall, the League of Distinguished Gentlemen is a club that exists to find the truth behind issues in theology, politics and economics, according to UW junior and president Nico Fassino.

The group is not for everybody, Fassino said, but it fosters an academic climate while searching for knowledge and truth in material and subjects that are of interest to the club members.

The club currently meets at Fassino’s house but should the club expand, a new venue can be arranged.

Society of Women Engineers

With the goal of promoting women in engineering, the Society of Women Engineers focuses on helping female UW engineering students with resources to succeed in tougher classes as well as working with engineering companies to help students with interviews and networking, according to UW senior and president Kim Miller.

In addition, SWE has extensive tutoring and after school programs with local junior high and high schools and offers a summer camp at UW for high school sophomores and juniors, Miller said.

During the spring semester, SWE invites admitted students to experience life on campus and show them that communities exist even on a large campus like UW, Miller said.
