(AP) – The University of Wisconsin-Madison has suspended a research employee who has been charged with possession of child pornography.
UW-Madison spokeswoman Amy Toburen said Wednesday Sidney Gullens has been placed on paid leave while the university investigates inappropriate behavior on the job.
Gullens has worked as an animal research technician in the university’s medical school since 2004. He makes about $30,000 per year in his job caring for animals used in research projects.
The 40-year-old was charged last week with two counts of possession of child pornography after state agents found inappropriate material on a laptop computer during a search of his Madison apartment.
He has been released on a signature bond.
