Charter Communications announced Tuesday they have added the
National Hockey League Network to their Digital Sports View service.
Hockey fans can now watch games from home on Charter
television service with subscription to Digital Cable Sports View. According to
a statement from Charter, NHL Network will appear on channel 422.
?We feel it?s a terrific addition to our sports tier,? said
Jessie Hlad, public relations and communications manager for Charter
Communications. ?It really rounds out ?Sports View.??
Hlad said the NHL Network officially launched on Charter
Monday.
UW sophomore Chris Huszar said he and his roommates chose
the sports tier as their one free premium upgrade for their house service
through Charter.
Huszar said he had not realized the new channel was
available but would likely not watch games.
?I probably wouldn?t watch any NHL games anyway,? Huszar
said. ?Watching hockey on TV just isn?t that exciting for me; I?d rather go to
the Kohl center and watch the Badgers.?
As of Tuesday, Charter Communications has yet to negotiate a
deal with the hotly debated Big Ten Network or NFL Network.
In addition to the NHL Network, Charter announced the launch
of the Anime Network on Charter Subscription Video on Demand.
The network will contain more than 24 hours of original
programming on On Demand, with new content available every week, the release
said.
?Anime is a very exciting channel for us,? Hlad said. ?It is
a growing phenomenon and has an amazing following. We are thrilled to add it to
our selection.?
