A University of Wisconsin student was arrested and slapped with a slew of charges after creating what police called a disturbance at the Kollege Klub, 529 N. Lake St.
Robert Tucker, 22, was charged by Madison Police Department with disorderly conduct, battery, criminal damage to property and resisting an officer.
Madison police responded to a report of a disturbance at the KK around 11:40 p.m. Saturday night, according to a police report.
Police were told that as Tucker was leaving, he hurled a can of chewing tobacco at a female employee, striking her in the head.
Officers tracked down Tucker, who struggled with officers and refused to cooperate, according to the report.
Taken into custody and placed in the backseat of a squad car, Tucker proceeded to kick out the window of a back door.
Kollege Klub owner Bruce Meier was summoned before the Alcohol License and Review Committee in June following a spring raid on the Kollege Klub that netted a finding of over a dozen underagers admitted into the establishment with fake IDs.
After Meier agreed to send his staff to a training session with the Madison Police Department dealing with providing responsible alcohol service and handling alcohol-related problems, Meier received a new liquor license for the KK.
The altercation comes just two days before a city hearing set to decide the fate of the KK, which may lose its liquor license, according to Ald. Tim Bruer, District 14, chair of the ALRC.
“For years, the KK has struggled with a number of issues associated with alcohol violation,” Bruer said. “Given problems of past track record, I think the prosecutor might recommend long-term suspension or revocation of the license.”
