UW-Madison will get a new Director of Transportation Services when Lance Lunsway assumes the position Feb. 28.
Lunsway replaces Lori Lay, who left the position in July to become the university’s transportation consultant.
Lunsway comes to UW from Arizona State University, where he served as parking and transportation manager. He will oversee all areas of parking and parking alternatives, including bus service arrangements with Madison Metro. He will also be in charge of fleet cars, maintenance and construction, and nighttime SAFErides.
“The opportunity to join a university with the reputation that UW-Madison has is truly a privilege,” Lunsway said. “I look forward to joining a great team at Transportation Services.”
Michael Lovejoy, director of business and staff services at UW-Madison Facilities Planning and Management, has been serving as interim director.
“We feel we’ve selected someone who can really help commuters deal with some of the changes that will come about as this university undergoes expansion,” Lovejoy said.
Lunsway will oversee changes in Transportation Services next year, including construction projects that will limit campus parking. His salary will be $86,000.
