The UW men’s hockey team nearly came back from a 3-0 deficit but wound up just short against Denver, losing 3-2 Friday night.
Wisconsin fell behind 3-0 after giving up two first-period goals. But after goals from freshmen Sean Dolan and Kyle Turris, the Badgers made a game of it in the third period. Turris returned to the team after missing the last four games while representing Canada in the World Juniors in the Czech Republic.
Neither team could find the net after that until the end of the period, when UW’s Matthew Ford appeared to score as time expired. Turris won the faceoff in the Denver zone with 3.7 seconds left on the clock. Ford took the loose puck, fired on net, and the referees initially signaled a goal as the game clock hit zero. But after review, the goal came too late, and Wisconsin was hit with yet another road loss.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night at 8 p.m. CT. The Badgers will look to put an end to their road woes against the Pioneers, who are currently ranked third in the nation according to [USCHO.com](http://www.uscho.com/rankings/).
