2:30: There are five minutes to game time and the student section is only half filled. Today’s towel giveaway day so fans have been waving the towels above their heads already, this will probably continue during the game at key points. Badger fans go nuts for the 1-0 scoreboard intro.
2:34: Michigan State wins the toss and defers. Badgers will receive in the first half and defend the North endzone to start the game.
2:37: Gilreath takes the ball out from deep in the endzone and is dropped at the Badger 15.
2:40: Two PJ Hill runs for a total of 3 yards lead to a 3rd and 7, but Donovan hits Beckum for an 11 yard pickup and a first down.
2:41: Hill breaks free for a 20 yard run bringing the Badgers to midfield. Timeout Badgers, 13:11 to play in the first.
2:44: Two more Hill runs for short yardarge put Badgers in 3rd and 7 again, once again Donovan throws for the first, this time to Hill in the flat.
2:45: Donovan to Swan for a 25 yard gain down the left side, Badgers on the MSU 15.
2:47: Hill ducks and dodges his way to a first down at the MSU 5. First and goal Wisconsin.
2:48: Hill runs untouched up the middle for a 5 yard TD completing an 85 yard drive for the Badgers. Mehlhaff’s kick is good.

2:52: MSU converts on a 3rd and 1 with a 5 yard rush. Towels didn’t help much.
2:53: Spartan QB Brian Hoyer completes a 17 yard pass down the middle. MSU close to midfield.
2:54: Hoyer fires wide on 3rd and 5. Controversy brewing in section O. Some students are waving towels on third down, others holding up the traditional “O” sign. Will keep you informed on the situation.

3:10: MSU hands off to sweeping WR Devin Thomas, runs all the way to the Badger 24.
3:11: MSU runs for 11 more yards to Badger 13. UW can’t stop the Spartan rushing attack.
3:13: Hoyer completes a 10 yard pass on 3rd and 9. First and goal on the 2.
3:14: Caulcrick runs for his second 2 yard score of the game. Swenson’s kick is good. Wisconsin’s defense drawing boos from the crowd.

3:16: For the third time Gilreath makes an ill-advised decision to take the ball out of the endzone, Badgers hit with another penalty, a hold, will start at their own 9 yard line.
3:18: Donovan picks up a first with a 9 yard run on second down. Donovan then completes a 14 yard pass to Beckum, Badgers showing some signs of life.
3:20: MSU puts eight in the box, but Hill still picks up 7 yards on first down. Badgers cross midfield to MSU 47.
3:21: Badgers false start penalty, thats the fourth flag of the quarter.
3:24: Delay of game to start the second quarter. That’s five penalties for Wisconsin. 2nd and 13.
3:25: Beckum makes a great catch down the right side for a 39 yard completion. First down at the 19.
3:26: Donovan has two receivers open in the end zone…and can’t find either on an incomplete pass.
3:27: Hill picks up a yard on 3rd and 1. First and goal from the MSU 9 for Wisconsin.
3:30: Two Hill runs lead to 3rd and goal from the 2, Badgers take a time out.

4:01: Donovan gets creative with a shovel pass to Beckum for 8 yards, 2nd and 3 from the MSU 43…PJ Hill breaks a big 22 yard rush to the MSU 21.
4:02: Donovan aims for Jefferson in the endzone, but the ball goes through Jefferson’s hands and into Spartan cornerback TJ Williams’, MSU ball at the 2 after the pick.
