Lollapalooza acts we wish we hadn’t missed

Now that we’ve caught up on post-Lollapalooza sleep, we’ve hashed through our notes and memories to bring you what we don’t have notes or memories of. With so many acts and so few hours to see them all in, missing an act or two is inevitable, but after talking to other fest attendees and just overhearing the general buzz, we’re just kicking ourselves for missing these three acts.

Dev:

We had two chances to see the vocalist behind such tracks as “Like a G6” and “Bass Down Low,” once at Lolla itself and then again at the ck one Rock The Vote Night at The Hard Rock Hotel but our timing was off. We were curious to see if she would perform her hits without the groups she sang them with or bring out new material, but it appears we’ll have to wait for another festival to find out. We definitely will not miss her a third time.

Nero:

This British duo first won our hearts when someone leaked their tour rider online and we saw they only requested beer and water (deadmau5 on the other hand required Grey Goose, premium champagne, an orange chocolate bar and two packs of Marlborough Lights, to name just a few items). We heard reports that they blew the crowded Perry’s stage away and brought out vocalist Alana Watson for hit “Promises” to sing live. We can only imagine how their afterparty at The Congress was.

Frank Ocean:

Competing for crowds with The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Santigold and Avicii, Frank Ocean wound up with the smallest crowd, but it didn’t appear to bother him much. Everyone we talked to said his performance was downright awe-inspiring, with much more emotion and rawness than his polished competitors. We’ll be on the lookout for him at future festivals, and we bet the next time around we’ll have to battle a much bigger crowd.
