WSUM 91.7 FM is a student radio station at UW-Madison, with a station on State Street and a broadcast tower located in Montrose, Wis. The radio station first began broadcasting Feb 22, 2002, but had operated by webcast prior to that. The majority of the station is funded by segregated fees, although a small portion of their funding comes from underwriting and fundraisers.
