Campaign officials for U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said Sunday afternoon that Monday’s portion of the Republican National Convention will be abbreviated due to Hurricane Gustav.
President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, who were scheduled to speak on the first day of the convention, will not be in attendance.
“This is a time when we have to do away with our party politics and we have to act as Americans,” McCain said, according to the Associated Press..
