Outgoing chancellor John Wiley has found a new role at the University of Wisconsin.
Beginning Nov. 1, Wiley will serve as the interim director of the Wisconsin Institutue for Discovery, the public half of UW’s new, comprehensive research institution.
Wiley replaces Marsha Malick Seltzer, who is also director of UW’s Waisman Center and coincidentally chaired UW’s search and screen committee to find a replacement for Wiley.
“I am delighted that WID will be led by John Wiley. He is a perfect fit for the mission and science of the new institute,” Seltzer said. “It has been an extraordinary experience for me to have served as interim director for the past two years and I have learned a great deal in the process. There is no one better able than John Wiley to build on the foundation we have established and to take WID into the future.”
Cornell University provost Biddy Martin will replace Wiley as chancellor at the end of the summer.
