Authorities say they are investigating a possible hate crime after a family’s car was set on fire and spray painted with the words “KKK.”
Dane County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Elise Schaeffer says the presumed arson happened early Sunday morning in the Town of Windsor just north of Madison.
She says the inside of a pickup truck owned by a family believed to be of Asian descent was set on fire and both sides were spray painted. She says one of the sides had “KKK” in red paint.
The family was not home at the time of the fire.
Schaeffer says detectives are processing the truck for evidence and asking people to come forward if they have helpful information.
