ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — John Swanson, Ryan Lasch and Andreas Nodl scored goals in consecutive periods and Jase Weslosky stopped 24 shots as St. Cloud State beat Wisconsin 3-0 in the first game of their best-of-three first-round WCHA playoff series.

The Huskies (18-14-5) scored twice on six power-play opportunities. The first goal came when John Swanson whipped a shot from the high slot glove-side on Badgers goalie Shane Connelly with 30 seconds left in the first period.

It stayed 1-0 until late in the second period. During a Huskies line change, Badgers defenseman Ryan McDonagh coughed up the puck to Brent Borgen behind the Wisconsin net. Borgen found Lasch at the left edge of the crease and picked the top right corner on Connelly at 17:42.

Nodl added a power-play goal midway through the third period, slapping in a feed from Nate Dey at the right of the crease.

Wisconsin went 0-for-3 on the man advantage and Connelly made 28 saves.

It was SCSU’s second consecutive win over Wisconsin after snapping a 14-game winless streak against the Badgers (15-15-7) in the last regular-season matchup between the teams.
