After one period of play in LaBahn Arena, No.1 Minnesota leads No. 8 Wisconsin 2-1.
The Golden Gophers struck first Sunday just seven minutes into the game on an unassisted goal by senior forward Becky Kortum.
11 minutes into the first period, UM was called for interference giving UW their second power play of the game.
Wisconsin was able convert their power play with a goal by junior forward Madison Packer on an assist by senior defenseman Saige Pacholok tying the game at 1-1 and giving the Badgers their first goal of the series.
With just over three minutes left in the first, Minnesota was able to regain the lead on a goal by freshman forward Hannah Brandt giving her 25 goals on the season and her second of the series.
After one period of play UM outshot UW 11-9 and Minnesota racked up two penalties while Wisconsin was booked for one.
