Two UW basketball players arrested, jailed for thefts in Sellery Hall

Freshmen Diamond Taylor and Jeremy Glover were arrested and jailed Sunday on tentative charges of burglary and underage drinking.

Taylor and Glover are suspected in the thefts of portable music players, a cell phone and more than $400 cash from dormitory rooms in Sellery Hall, according to a news release from the University of Wisconsin Police Department.

The two also were suspended from the Wisconsin men’s basketball team after violating the UW Department of Athletics’ Student-Athlete Discipline Policy.

The suspension was announced Sunday by Athletic Director Barry Alvarez in a press release.

Taylor and Glover are “suspended from competition and practice pending the availability of further information relating to their cases.”

Though they are suspended, the two athletes will remain on official squad lists during the suspension and may continue to receive medical, academic and weight training support.

Continue to check The Badger Herald for more information regarding their suspensions as it becomes available.

I have personally known Jeremy for all 18 years of his life and I know he would NEVER steal from anyone and has absolutely NO need to do so! If any of you would take the time to read any of Jeremy’s other accomplishments you might know that too! THE ONLY THING HE IS GUILTY OF IS TRUSTING SOMEONE HE DIDN’T KNOW and I know no one wants to believe this but he really was just IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME!!! I pray that this does not stain his academic or basketball career and I really wish people would get all the facts before passing judgment!

Sorry, I agree with innocent until proven guilty but it does not look good for these 2 at the moment. It would appear that they broke the law. Let them stay in school but the University should immediately revoke any scholarship $ as well as the other privileges, per the article, if found guilty. If the University does not do that, they are sending the wrong message to the kids who have been taught right from wrong and who actually follow the rules. Athletes as well as non-athletes.

These guys should not be held responsible, they have no clue about right and wrong, and it is too late to teach them now.

they were in my room at 6 in the morning.

As a resident of one of the floors in sellery that was robbed - I think it’s important for everyone reading this to keep in mind that these boys broke in to several girls’ rooms at 5 in the morning while they were sleeping. Keep that in mind how you would feel if someone you didn’t know was walking around attempting to enter your home while you are sleeping.

Lying, lies! Mr Anonymous, how can you report that they were in your room at 6 am when the UW police report that they had them in custody at 5:40 am. Oh, oh I got it they broke away from the police, went to your room & the girls room, & then went back to waiting police and turned themselves in. Ummmmm! Magicians I guess. It’s really bad when people in 2009 still uses prejudices to make decisions about people’s lives that could ruin it. You, Mr. Anonymous should get your facts at least accurate and oh, by the way get a life. You’ve got nothing better to do than lie than you’ve got NOTHING!

Ive known diamond taylor for a pretty long time and hell i graduated with him and im not sayin what he did was right but you cant say that jermey trusted someone he didnt know he was involved and thats all it is too it so u cant defend him. he was caught point blank

8:57 I completely agree with you but JEREMY was not in anyone’s room! and 12:37 that was the stupidest thing you could’ve possibly said, :o) are you trying to get a free iPod?

I believe freejeremyglover was not trying to blame Diamond as the person that Jeremy trusted and didn’t know. We think that more is involved in a story where two very good straight and narrow kids would just up and decide to visit dorms at 5:00 am like maybe an initiation?

Yes, Andrew Jackson the the rest of the 400$ cash they stole was calling out to these cement heads with an invitation saying, “Steal me! Steal me! You don’t have to work hard for money or possessions you can just steal them from people who do!” These thieves must have been raised really poorly. Shame. If that scavenger has to steal he should change his name to Cubic Zirconia.

I’m glad they were caught otherwise no doubt they would have hit up Witte this weekend, and Ogg, and so forth. Scumbags.

Raised poorly? What the hell? Diamond was raised by two very kind and giving parents. He also has a strong support system, which I am proud to be a part of, that still loves him and will have his back when this is all over.I have been privileged to watch him grow over the last five years or so. My sons look up to him as a role model. He is a good person who unfortunately made a bad decision. It happens. Thankfully, there are so many of you perfect people whom have never exercised poor judgement(except for when judging others). This Diamond is as real as it gets.
