The University of Wisconsin men’s golf team proved themselves ready for next weekend’s Big Ten Championship, shooting 18 and 54-hole spring lows with scores of 307-301-298=906 at the Bruce Fossum/Taylor Made Invitational.

Placing ninth of 14 teams, the Badgers had their best finish since their first tournament of the spring Feb. 28-29.

Although freshman Garrett Jones led the team overall in a tie for 15th (71-77-76=224), junior Dylan Esterling turned in the low score among teammates in the final round. He tied for 49th with 79-81-72=232.

After firing a career-best 68 in the second round Saturday, Kevin Tassistro finished in a tie for 36th with scores of 84-68-77=229. Wisconsin junior Brian Brodell was one stroke behind him in a tie for 41st (76-75-79=230). Ryan Conn, turning in the next lowest score Sunday behind Esterling, finished with 81-82-73=236 for a 63rd-place finish.

Indiana won the Invitational with scores of 288-295-297=880. The Hoosiers were lead by Jeff Overton, who won the individual medal by shooting a six-under par 210.

Next up for the Badgers is the Big Ten Championship May 7-9. The 72-hole tournament is hosted by Michigan at the par 71, 6,704-yard University of Michigan Golf Course.
