Men’sThe UW men’s track and field team won two relay events and two individual events at the SeaRay Relays in Knoxville, Tenn.

Finishing in 9:40.74, Wisconsin’s team of Chris Solinsky, Joe Detmer, Dan Murray and Matt Tegenkamp recorded the fifth fastest time in school history to win the distance medley relay.

The Badgers also took home the 4x1500-meter relay, as the team of Simon Bairu, Tim Keller, Solinsky and Tegenkamp finished in 15:29.90 to post the fifth best time in UW history.

The Badgers also had a strong showing in the 4x200-meter relay, as the team of Jvontai Hanserd, Chad Melotte, Omole and Gustin Smith crossed the line in 1:25.40 to finish second. The time is the third fastest in school history. Hanserd and the Badgers finished just behind North Carolina AT, who won the event in 1:24.75.

Additionally, Wisconsin placed well in two other relay events, taking second in the 4x800-meter and eigth in the 4x400-meter relays.

In individual events, a pair of freshmen led the way, as freshman Demi Omole won the 100-meter dash and redshirt freshman Codie See won the open section of the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Omole improved his NCAA regional qualifying mark to finish in a season-best time of 10.38 in the 100-meter dash. Omole’s finish lands him seventh on Wisconsin’s all-time list. See finished in a personal best of 9:16.66 in the steeplechase.

Rounding out the Badgers’ top performers, junior Josh Spiker ran a personal best and regional qualifying mark of 1:49.44 to take seventh place in the 800-meters.
