Wisconsin shooting guard Freddie Owens will not play in tonight’s game against Michigan due to a left foot injury he suffered in practice Saturday.
Owens has started in all of the Badgers’ 14 games this season, averaging 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per contest.
The UW Sports Medicine staff evaluated his foot injury Tuesday, but the senior guard’s status beyond tonight’s game has yet to be determined.
In last season’s matchup with the Wolverines at the Kohl Center, Owens scored 10 points, pulled down two rebounds and did not commit a single turnover in 29 minutes of playing time.
With Owens on the sideline, the Badgers will be without two members of their starting lineup in tonight’s contest, since sophomore forward Alando Tucker is also expected to miss the game due to injury.
Replacing Owens in the starting lineup will be junior forward Zach Morley.
Morley has appeared in all 14 of UW’s games this season, averaging 23.6 minutes off the bench. He is netting 9.1 points per game, which is the fourth best scoring average on the team, and ranks second on the team in total rebounds (80).
In home games this season, Morley averages 10.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, while shooting .524 from the field.
