En route to losing 63-32 to Indiana, Wisconsin gave up the most points to an opponent since Nov. 5, 1890 as the Badgers lost to Minnesota, 63-0.

“We thought we had a great week of practice, and we got thoroughly embarrassed,” UW defensive lineman Wendell Bryant said. “We embarrassed this program. We embarrassed everything that Mr. Alvarez built.”

The Hoosiers dominated the game from the start, scoring a touchdown on their first possession. Indiana’s opening drive took only two plays and 28 seconds before the seven points were tallied.

The Hoosiers scored on the next four drives, and brought the score to 32-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Badgers found their offense in the second quarter, bringing the score to 42-17 at the half. But the Hoosiers never relented, and had an answer for all of Wisconsin’s scores, extending the lead to 63-32 at the end of the game.

The Badgers’ usually sound defense gave up 631 yards of total offense, 449 of which came on the ground.

Indiana’s quarterback, Antwaan Randle El, burned Wisconsin for 182 yards passing and 102 yards rushing. Levron Williams, who tallied 280 yards for 6 touchdowns, aided his teammate in the slaughter. Williams’s six rushing touchdowns were the most given up to an opponent by the Badgers.

Wisconsin quarterback Brooks Bollinger did produce some offense of his own, recording 222 yards passing and completing 15 of 24 passes. Receiver Lee Evans caught a career-high nine catches for 148 yards and tight end Mark Anelli turned in a career-high performance as well with five receptions for 55 yards.
