Wisconsin is ranked 17th and four Badgers gained all-America mention according to Street & Smith’s College Football 2001, which arrived on newsstands July 3.
Wisconsin, 9-4 overall last season after a 21-20 Sun Bowl victory over UCLA, is one of four (No. 9 Michigan, No. 23 Purdue and No. 24 Northwestern are the others) Big Ten schools in the publication’s top 25.
Wendell Bryant, the UW’s senior defensive end, was named to the magazine’s all-America second team. Offensive lineman Ben Johnson, linebacker Nick Greisen and defensive back Mike Echols all were tabbed as honorable mention choices.
