No matter what tastes you crave, Bluephie's could be your new favorite restaurant. The décor is modern and trendy yet still inviting, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Bluephie's is perfect for a lunch date or post-study session feast. The eclectic menu, including salads, noodle bowls, burgers, sandwiches and other hearty favorites, allows customers to either try something new and different, or a jazzed-up version of a classic.

Lunch favorites include the fig chicken sandwich, grilled portobello sandwich or a sweet potato quesedilla, which consists of black beans, tofu and sweet potato. The Southwestern crab cake salad, served with veggies, pecans, goat cheese and guacamole is another tasty choice. Daily specials include different types of quiche and risotto. Many vegetarian entrées are available.

For dinner, "retro chic" entrées include chicken pot pie, pot roast, short ribs and meatloaf, among others. Large noodle bowls, such as the Greco Romano pasta and artichoke fontinella are also house favorites.

Bluephie's also serves brunch until 2 p.m. on weekends, which is convenient after a late Friday night. Eggs, scramblers, French toast and "the best flapjacks this side of Lake Mendota," are complemented by a list of breakfast drinks to keep the party going. Save room: Dessert at Bluephie's is a must. Creative desserts range from Butterfinger wontons and chocolate chip cookie dough egg rolls to the enormous mango eruption — cake, fresh fruit and white chocolate.

Bluephie's is environmentally friendly as well; they save thousands of gallons of water per year by only serving a glass of water if it is requested, which is either laudable or irritating, depending on your viewpoint.

The downside: Bluephie's is slightly pricier than the average college eatery, but not completely out of budget; entrées range from $10 to $15. It is also a bit of a hike, but burning those extra calories means you can enjoy the decadent desserts guilt-free. Service is fast, the food is good, and it's OK to splurge once in a while — you'll have leftovers.
