I tend to view politics as an avenue for maximizing human liberty. Whether in foreign, domestic or social policy, my opinions are premised on the belief that society stands to gain from allowing its citizens the most latitude possible. However, I am not rigidly partisan — public education as a means of improving opportunity for the most downtrodden individuals in society is and will remain a cause close to my heart. Consistent with my belief that economic liberty should rarely be compromised for some vague idea of “the public good,” I am opposed to almost all forms of social welfare that do not carry the promise of long-term, sustainable benefit for the individuals being aided.
