In response to “Obama’s vision of unity unclear” by Ryan Masse:

So… you’re calling Obama racist. Right. This article should be titled, “Masse’s vision of hackery clear.”

In response to “Tragedy can’t be solved with ribbons” by Sean Kittridge:

I don’t think that anyone is trying to fix these situations by wearing a ribbon. Is it so bad to show support for one another by wearing a ribbon? If there is any good that can come out of these tragedies, it is the reminder to look out for our friends and classmates and to unite to take care of one another. If a ribbon helps to remind us to do that, then that is wonderful.

Who?!? Who doesn’t want to wear the ribbon?!?

In response to “Make Chelsea’s mom president” by Jennifer Lee, Ellen Cornelius, Elsa Collins and Martha Brantley:

Chelsea Clinton works for a $5 billion hedge fund in New York. Neither she nor her spoiled rich friends know what it means to not have health insurance. It’s a little ironic for them to be pitching Hillary, specially since their careers stand to benefit from her presidency. Chelsea should know. She got her well-paying hedge fund job because her boss Marc Lasry is friends with Bill Clinton.

“Why do people’s comments need to be so cruel. That’s why Hillary’s supporters are so devoted.” The few, the proud.

This is supposed to make me vote for Hillary? Because she’ll bake cookies for me? This drivel is so condescending it only underscores how creepy the Clintons’ campaign is getting.

In response to “Ashok, Chavez make bad duo” by Andrew Wagner:

Agriculture is central to Dane County’s economy, some of the best farmland in the nation! This weird, uninformed article is a pathetic attempt to explain away your preference for ties with Europe and other White people over ties with Latin America and people of color.

When you write of White Germans, “Clearly, this sort of city is much more suited for developing ties with”, and don’t realize that you’re being Euro-centric and urban-centric, I feel bad for you.

In response to “Dane’s sister could bring benefit” by Kyle Szarzynski:

The opening line of your piece was all I needed to read. Sister cities should never be political in nature. Establishing “solidarity with Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution” is something a city government has no business taking part in. Madison should not use tax payer’s money to support foreign revolutions.

In response to “Keep on turning in illegal immigrants” by Sam Clegg:

If saying stupid things were pitching strikes, Sam’s writings this semester would be a no-hitter.

I don't think it's stupid to deport illegal aliens, especially when they break the law - again. The four children would still be alive if this illegal alien had been deported. Does murder get her a ticket home?

You may have heard about an accident in southwestern Minnesota in which a school bus was rammed from the side by a van, killing four school children. After considerable hemming and hawing, it has been confirmed that the woman who was driving the van, Alianiss Morales, is an illegal alien. Morales has been booked on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation.

It's a tragic story, with elements that, as so often happens, make little sense. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Morales has a "Minnesota identification card" but does not have a driver's license. I'm not sure what a "Minnesota identification card" is, or how an illegal alien can get one. In 2006, Morales was convicted of driving without a license.

Let's invade Mexico, drive all the Mexicans down into South America. Then we can have all the cheap Mexican oil we want. We took Texas from them, we might as well take Mexico.

Anonymous (February 22, 2008 @ 3:57pm):

"We took Texas from them"

Texas declared independence from Mexico in 1836. The people living in that area decided that they didn't want to be ruled by a dictator in Mexico City.

But you do have a point. Remember it when somebody tells you that Iraq is "all about oil". If it was all about oil, then the USA could have taken Mexico and Venezuela with FAR less trouble - the tanks wouldn't even have had to go by sea.

Anonymous (February 22, 2008 @ 4:30pm):

Our worries are for nought, hope is on the way!

Last night, Obama said he would solve our immigration problem in part by improving the economy of Mexico to the point that illegal immigrants will have no need or desire to enter the paradise Obama will create here.

Most magically of all, Obama will fix Mexico's economy even while refusing to trade with Mexico unless it complies with U.S. labor and environmental standards.

I know the competition is fierce, but Obama may turn out to be the most intellectually dishonest Democratic presidential nominee of my lifetime.

You seriously need to get YOUR history straight.

The US did consider invading and annexing Mexico - but decided they didn't want to deal with millions of racially inferior and troublesome Latinos.
I shit you not.

Also, the US did not become fully interested in obtaining oil as a primary energy source until the turn of the century, some five decades later.

Look it up. Your argument makes little sense.

Anonymous (February 23, 2008 @ 2:01pm):

Not talking about the turn of century, more recent timing, like when tanks would be part of the picture - idiot.

Ahh, the argument of an individual lacking an argument.

Anonymous (February 24, 2008 @ 4:19pm):

Ah, the response of an idiot who thinks tanks were used in wars 150 years ago.
