In response to “Ante up” by the Editorial Board:
Remember this article next time the BH Editorial Board hollers about raising worker salaries to a living wage, increasing TA pay and benefits, and raising seg fees. Reeks of hypocrisy.
In response to “UW mistreats country’s finest” by David Lapidus:
Who cares? They are all a bunch of trigger-happy white males that only like to murder innocent women and children. I say let them stay in Gitmo where they belong. I remember reading about how they gun down all those innocent Vietnamese women and children in My Lie. You reap what you sew.
In response to “Herald unfair to Mikolajczak” by Kristen Wall:
I wonder, what exactly were the frazzled College Republican expecting? Perhaps they expected this exceedingly liberal campus to listen, enraptured by their leader’s talking points, until they were given the opportunity to become registered Republicans themselves. No, probably not. It should still come as no surprise that the debate turned into something resembling a circus of liberal bias. If the College Republicans feel so wronged by the outcome, maybe they should stick to speaking “in front of far more important people than the students of the University of Wisconsin.” Remind me to show up and boo you, Ms. Wall, the next time you decide to speak in front of MY schoolmates.

I am looking at the following comment that was posted "In response to UW mistreats countrys finest by David Lapidus:

My sister was in the Army, my brother is currently stationed in Afghanistan. My father, both of my grandfathers and two of my great aunts served in the United States Military. I am deeply offended by this newspaper's publication of such a hateful, dishonest remark. Your paper states that "We welcome your thoughts, but please keep your feedback thoughtful, on-topic and respectful. Offensive language, personal attacks, or irrelevant comments may be deleted." Well I don't know what could be more disrespectful or offensive than a newspaper printing comments that are so anti-military as this one. Quite frankly, maybe your editorial & reporting staff should take some time to reflect upon the many people in the MILITARY who work around the clock & around the globe to provide YOU with the right to sit in your cushy homes and write nasty, untruthful things about them. Maybe your staff needs to think about who protects this country from those who would put an end to your first amendment rights. Do you really think that you would be able to print whatever you wanted in most countries around the world? Grow up & have some respect for the people in this country that care enough to serve it.

I think "Anonymous (February 15, 2008 @ 6:04pm)" already covered quite eloquently why this comment is completely disgusting, insulting, absurd, and unfair towards vets.
BTW, the titling might seem confusing, but I DID NOT WRITE THIS COMMENT. I am the author of the pro-vet article on which it comments:

On that note, if you are interested in advocating for UW student vets please contact Vets for Vets at vets@rso.wisc.edu.

In response to the response to Mr. Lapidus's article "UW mistreats country's finest":
Sir or Ma'am-
If in future years you hope your thoughts will be taken seriously, it would behoove you to avoid cliches such as "Who cares?" and "trigger-happy". Beyond that, please note that references to history are only impressive when correctly spelled (My Lai), and that if your aim is not to amuse your fellow-man, be sure to double check the idioms you chose to employ. After all, you reap what you SOW, and if you sow half-thought misspelled regurgitated jargon, well. You have only yourself to blame if no one listens except to laugh. I speak thus only in the hope that you will be spared future humiliation.
Sincerely,
Katherine Thompson
