In response to “Gameday behavior sours UW image” by Jere Fluno:

Shouldn’t these donors be taken to, I don’t know, say our world-class research facilities instead? I worked in a UW lab for 4 years, and I don’t think we ever taunted anyone in another lab - it’s a more representative aspect of the school that their money actually should go to. I love games as much as the next badger alumni, but I agree that some of the more colorful English in existence shouldn’t frighten away donors. We have the state’s poor funding of the UW system for that.

In response to “Landlords price out UW students” by Laura Brennan:

Because most undergrads refuse to believe that Madison actually exists beyond a one mile zone around campus. They continue to rent from the slumlords because they won’t ride a bus for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the intelligent students live a little further out in clean, comfortable, quiet apartments with decent landlords and excellent access to goods and services (including lakes and parks). As long as you confine your search to the student ghetto, you’re going to find overpriced and undermaintained shacks.

In response to “Liberal arts merit alumni attention” by Ben White:

I agree that more money is needed for the liberal arts here. However, you can’t blame business students for the money they receive. They pay more tuition and they raise more money; why shouldn’t they use it to provide the best education possible? It’s not their fault that there aren’t millionaire polisci majors willing to give back to us.

In response to “UHS, Planned Parenthood should rethink access to pill” by Sara Biersteker:

Here’s a plan B for you and your friend: don’t get so obliterated that you don’t know what’s going on. The word “responsibility” was surprisingly not found anywhere in your article.

In response to “ASM not perfect, but still working” by Hannah Karns:

Student Government is like a diaper. It should be changed often and for the same reasons.

In response to “Lady Justice turns blind eye” by Sean Kittridge:

Very well written article. I had followed this case over the summer and was appalled that such injustice could occur in this country. I applaud you for stressing that everyone loses in this situation, yet to different degrees. However, I don’t think you should have attacked the sex offender registry in the way you did. I’ve made plenty of “bad decisions” in my four years at college, however, I do not see myself ending up in the sex offender database. Rather, I think that emphasis should be placed on serving justice from the get-go

In response to “Exposing the gravy train” by the Editorial Board:

If you were not aware that the Union South plan involved a new building you were not paying attention. Also UW’s fees and instate tuition are both near the lowest in the Big Ten. You are getting steak for hamburger prices. Quit bitching about every little thing.

In response to “Salas resignation bold, yet justified” by Jason Smathers:

To Senor Salas: good riddance. Which “in state” do undocumented illegals belong? Sonora, Chihuahua, Jalisco, or Wisconsin?
