Dear Editor,
This is in response to Lee Hanson's most recent letter to your paper,"UW Admissions Process Lacks Transparency," published in today's paper (February 6, 2007). I've lost count of the number of times Professor Hanson has written essentially the same tired, misleading, discredited letter to your paper. A few years ago, he even took out a full-page ad on this subject. That one was so filled with misinformation and faulty reasoning that I posted a lengthy rebuttal on my website. For those who are interested in informing their views with factual information, I invite you to read what I've re-posted at http://www.chancellor.wisc.edu/admissions.html and http://www.chancellor.wisc.edu/chan_analysis.html .
John Wiley,
Chancellor

Chancellor Wiley,
Please deal with campus safety.
Thanks,
The student body

Anonymous,
Many of his policies determine who among us are able to come to this campus and what the quality of our education will be.
Thanks,
The Rest of the Student Body

Wiley wrong on:
- Handling Mike Leckrone in the UW Band incident
- Handling Barrows incident
- Handling the UWRC incident
- increasing student fees
How do we get rid of him?
Anonymous (February 8, 2007 @ 12:02pm):
I can't complain. When I'm in classes with minority students who got a 950 on the SAT or a 15 on the ACT it's that much easier for me to get good grades.

John Wiley needs to be replaced. While Bascom Hall is imploding due to his stunning incompetence in handling the Barrows case, Wiley has gone before the legislature to defend race preferences and gone to UW-Milwaukee and talked it up. What kind of leadership is this for UW-Madison?
Anonymous (February 17, 2007 @ 2:31pm):
Wiley is the worst Chancellor UW-Madison has ever had. He has no leadership ability at all, and he has failed in number of challenges, especially the Barrows matter.
Anonymous (February 19, 2007 @ 8:35pm):
Yes. Wiley has been a catastrophe as Chancellor.
