In response to “Green exploits scientific debate” by Carolyn Smith
I wonder if Mark Green would want to save all those embryos if he knew that they would all become democrats? Usually cold states vote democrat … there’s no colder state than frozen.

Doyle sees nothing wrong with bribes from the gambling mob but violating RETROACTIVE rules is wrong?
In response to “America fickle for oil” by Rob Rossmeissl
… we’ve all taken econ 101, so this theory can’t be difficult to grasp. everyone is looking for conspiracy theories and expecting oil companies to operate at a loss or at break even. they are private companies investing private assets to produce a product for consumer use…if the price is too high, don’t buy…it’s that simple. but don’t expect oil companies to stop trying to make a profit off of their investment(s).
… People often think the marketplace produced oil addiction but big government has as much to do with it as anything. Even the last 10-15 years of New Urbanism is only a drop in the bucket compared to our auto-loving planners.
… Why is the price of gasoline dropping right now? Did China stop using gasoline recently? I think all the reasons we were given for the spike in gas prices were absolute BULL. Someone has to follow the money, perhaps a democrat-majority with subpoena power. Just for the record: if the democrats don’t act, I’ll do my best to vote them out too.

… if you’re the state’s top law enforcement representative, you don’t get to break the law and keep your job. i really wish you had stepped down, especially when we have such a great alternative in falk.
In response to “Print media aids own downfall” by Bassey Etim
… Bassey is wrong about one thing: Detroit should blame the unions. The replacement of contribution-based retirement packages with benefit-based retirement packages is one of the great victories of the Hoffa-esque union movement and, in a sadly sum-zero sense, one of the great losses of the American corporation.
In response to “Students essential to defeating ban” by Andy Gordon
Why should a gay man’s “partner” get his health insurance? What about my best friend who I have known for years? We aren’t gay, but still, I think he should be covered under my health care. My point is, just because two people like to have sex (gay or otherwise) doesn’t mean that the state should give them special treatment.
In response to “Barrett shamelessly exploits position” by Ryan Masse
In a million years nobody will care about Barret, Madison, UW, Christianity, Islam, Pee Wee Herman or Bush. I can hardly wait.

You call this:
"Why should a gay man's "partner" get his health insurance? What about my best friend who I have known for years? We aren't gay, but still, I think he should be covered under my health care. My point is, just because two people like to have sex (gay or otherwise) doesn't mean that the state should give them special treatment."
...a good comment? How is it special treatment to give gays the exact same treatment all us straight folks get? Isn't it special treatment for straight folks that our partners can be covered by our health insurance, when gay folks' partners can't be?
Anonymous (September 13, 2006 @ 3:12pm):
I call it a great comment.

Indeed. Who needs a semi-open forum for the exchange of ideas.
Differing opinion about a political issue = bigot? Nice.
