Since classes let out in May, we have seen the gradual tattering of the University of Wisconsin administration, a retirement announcement from Bucky’s football coach and a veritable facelift to the corridors of State Street. In the coming months, we will see a series of new bodies filling Bascom Hall, Barry Alvarez’s final campaign as head coach and a Saturday night in late October that promises to be eventful. So while The Badger Herald may have given the presses a rest over the course of an unusually eventful summer, we will keep them rolling during what promises to be a very exciting fall.
For everything from the furtherance of the Paul Barrows scandal to the presidential prospects of Russ Feingold, our news section will deliver the information you care about. When it comes to previewing gridiron action and featuring standout student athletes, the sports page is dedicated to providing fresh and insightful content. For everything political, look to the opinion section for the divergence of eclectic ideologies. Vis-à-vis music, movies, food and everything cultural, our arts page is eager to pique your interests. And when your professor has hit a note of irreversible monotone, give comics a gander for some laughs and a crossword puzzle.
The Badger Herald is proud to be the largest independent student newspaper in America. A lot of effort from a lot of people goes in to compiling every issue of this publication and we strive to whet your interests on a daily basis. To ensure that we are doing all we can to achieve this end, I am pleased to announce the hiring of The Herald’s first-ever ombudsman. My predecessor, Cristina Daglas, has agreed to take on the weighty task and, at the bottom of this page, you will find her initial offering.
This promises to be an exciting year for The Herald, and I consider it an honor to be part of something so very special.
