From the Editorial Board
In preparing editorials, we routinely go through several drafts before electing to publish a final product. Due to several errors, a piece entitled “1 if by Madison, 2 if by elsewhere,” appearing in the Friday, March 4 edition of The Badger Herald reflected viewpoints not held by the majority of the editorial board and included content of an inaccurate and unedited nature.
In light of this error, we have asked Eric B. Cullen to take over the position of chairman. We look forward to working as a newly restructured board. Further, we apologize for our error and are printing the editorial that was supposed to run Friday under the same headline today.
As always, thank you for reading.
Sincerely,
Cristina Daglas Jake Leonard Mac VerStandig Zach Stern Eric B. Cullen

I have a better idea: just f@*&-ing go out of business! We're sick of biased commentary on this campus. This newspaper sucks royally. Trust me, you bozos wouldn't make it working for a real newspaper.
Anonymous (March 7, 2005 @ 8:53am):
Buddy, it's an opinion page..they're supposed to be biased, schmuck.

Chairman of the Board - back in action again.
Anonymous (March 7, 2005 @ 10:08am):
Et tu, Abigail Peterson?
Anonymous (March 7, 2005 @ 1:49pm):
What makes a real newspaper? The Herald is independant and supported totally by ads (the only one on campus). Also when I worked there it had a bigger circulation than the Cap Times -- I'm not sure if that's still true, but it's still one of the 5 or 6 biggest newspapers in the state.

whoah...taking ourselves a little too seriously

"Buddy, it's an opinion page..they're supposed to be biased, schmuck."
If you think it's OK for a newspaper to be biased, then guess who the schmuck is.

Seems like the last guy has a little trouble gettin' it on with the women.
Anonymous (March 7, 2005 @ 9:25pm):
Actually, the Cardinal is also completely independent, receives no funding from the university, and is supported by ad revenue.
Anonymous (March 7, 2005 @ 9:41pm):
When I had class in Vilas Hall once, I walked past the Cardinal office and did a double take.
Free overhead? Come on, the Cardinal is about as independent as a 30-year-old living in his parents' basement.

Excuse me if I seem skeptical about this "getting the record straight", but if I'm not mistaken...wasn't there an editorial board that did not include Cullen this past November that endorsed Democratic candidates? Then, Mr. Cullen, a former editor in chief with conservative leanings, who formerly had pretty much nil to do with said paper becomes an "at large editor, and is now "Chairman of the Editorial Board?" (And, I might add, the former 6th board member, whose name escapes me, disappears from the playing field.)
Wow. When VerStandig (Opinion Editor) gets a liberal bee in his bonnet, I guess nothing will stand until he's crushed it like a cartoon anvil. Way to promote free exchange of ideas.
Anonymous (March 7, 2005 @ 10:13pm):
And way to complain when your liberal viewpoints aren't shared by every newspaper in a city. Whine whine whine, is that all the liberals can do? Seriously, if you don't like what they do, don't read their paper.

Inter-Herald politics at it's very best. Way to put the drama in print.
Anonymous (March 8, 2005 @ 12:10am):
this ed board is a joke
Anonymous (March 8, 2005 @ 12:16am):
I guarantee this ed board will be much less of a joke if Cullen is in charge. I plan on reading their editorials again now.
Anonymous (March 8, 2005 @ 1:45am):
Sweet, the local Coulter-clone is back.
Anonymous (March 8, 2005 @ 7:53pm):
The Cardinal's got free space in Vilas because it originally owned the land that Vilas is on (and had its own building). The paper donated the land in exchange for free space. Get your facts straight. http://www.dailycardinal.com/main.cfm?include=general_paper_info
