Last year, UW became the butt of a national joke after administrators digitally added UW student of color activist Diallo Shabaz into a scene of white Badger fans on the cover of its admissions brochure. (We realize this is news to nobody, but it’s fun to make the administrators squirm.)
This year, the administration didn’t take any chances: This year’s cover features a trumpet and an obscured UW band member.
This is a big deviation from the usual student-crowd shot. But, given the admissions office’s track record with Photoshop, we’re glad to see Bascom is playing it safe.
