This latest push by the administration to link drugs to terrorism takes post Sept. 11 sentiment too far. It’s another example of taking the fear from a valid political issue and using it to further an agenda.

Regardless of the statement’s validity, saying drug users “kill families in Columbia” with their activities unfairly demonizes a section of our population. If the administration really wanted to solve the “drug problem,” it would stop wasting $180 million on commercials and use the money for education and treatment.

Also, we should be looking for other ways to stop funding terrorists. It is widely believed that money from Saudi Arabian petroleum industries is funding terrorist organizations.

Getting America off foreign oil sources would do much more than trying to convince drug users to change. Although it would be a difficult task, it is a solution and not just wasteful propaganda.
