We received a lot of grief about the last seg fee abuse of the week. It seems the numbers we used for the Model UN were incorrect — not because we screwed up, but because the Associated Students of Madison Finance Committee’s website was wrong.
ASM quickly moved to post a disclaimer on the website, and corrected the numbers in question. But the question remains, why were the numbers wrong in the first place?
We think we know the answer.
This week’s seg fee abuse of the week is the money spent on ASM’s calculators. Either ASM is not using them or else they do not work.
See, since that editorial, the ASM Finance Committee has approved funding for four groups. That means the website has eight new totals — the total requested and the total rewarded for each of the four groups. And of those eight totals (as of last night) five of them are wrong! Since ASM was so adamant the mistake was ours, not theirs, that leaves only the calculators to blame.
