While we’re delving into the cable advice business, we would like to know what happened to ESPNEWS. As every sports lover knows, ESPNEWS is a little slice of heaven in the middle of Charter’s cable lineup.
At least it used to be in the middle. For reasons unbeknownst to football junkies everywhere, the continual excitement that is ESPNEWS’ bi-hourly repeat of sports highlights has been replaced by, of all things, the Golf Channel! The contrast could not be greater.
ESPNEWS, meanwhile, has been banished to channel 98 for those on expanded basic, 122 on digital. Not only does this make the ESPN-ESPN2-ESPNEWS cycle more difficult to execute, the constant buzzing noise accompanying the low-priority channel is appalling.
For the sake of couch potatoes everywhere, we can only hope Charter will see the error of their ways. Preferably on repeat, every half-hour.
