As an extension of our registration issue editorial against Ald. Tim Bruer’s proposal to drive responsible drinkers out of bars, we offer one of tonight’s (possibly soon to be extinct) drink specials.
We mentioned it in the aforementioned editorial, but we’re such big fans we had to bring it up again. We are, of course, referring to the Plaza’s two-for-one Long Islands, available only on Wednesdays. Take advantage now, before Ald. Bruer banishes you to a dark, smoky, unsupervised basement.
And speaking of the Plaza, has anyone else waited patiently in line only to see the inside seemingly empty? It seems that the number of restrooms influences a bar’s capacity — an area in which the Plaza falls a bit short. But to add more restrooms, the Plaza’s existing ones would have to be brought up to American with Disabilities Act standards, necessitating an expensive renovation.
We’re all for the disabled having equal access, but that doesn’t lessen the sense of emptiness and frustration on a busy Friday night.
