Early Sunday morning a 19-year-old woman was hit by a car while crossing the street at the University Avenue and North Park Street intersection.

Around 12:16 a.m., a car turned left onto North Park Street and struck the victim, according to a Madison Police Department statement. The suspected vehicle was described as a “burnt orange boxy type, smaller SUV, similar to a Honda Element,” according to the statement.

The victim was from Madison. She sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, the statement said.
