Party crashers steal more than $3,000 worth of items

Four Madison men reported more than $3,000 in property missing after party crashers showed up at their apartment Saturday night, according to a police report.

A group consisting of eight to 10 women and a few men showed up uninvited to a party on the 400 block of West Gorham Street on Saturday, the Madison Police Department said.

After 10 minutes, the party’s hosts were able to convince the party crashers to leave, but not before the crashers made off with some of the hosts’ possessions, the police report said.

When the victims went to their bedrooms later in the night, they discovered numerous personal possessions — including laptops, headphones and cash — missing. The victims estimated their losses at around $3,500.

The victims told police they believed the female party crashers distracted them while the male party crashers committed the theft.
