The pop band OK Go will headline the University of Wisconsin All-Campus Party Badger Blowout Concert on April 24, the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board announced Thursday.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. at the Overture Center on State Street.

Originally from Chicago, the band is renowned for its music video featuring them employing treadmills to dance to their single “Here it Goes Again.” The band received a Grammy its video performance.

“[OK Go] heard of All-Campus Party before,” WASB member Mike Jurken said. “So they were definitely intrigued and wanted to do it. They’ve been a great band to work with.”

According to Jurken, the “up and coming” band toured constantly in March to promote a new album slated for release later this year. Their most recent album, “Oh No,” debuted in 2005.

Also performing at the concert are We the Living, The Nod and the 2009 All Campus Idol winner, a contest included in the weeklong string of events.

WASB member Lisa Kibiloski said she believes these openers will contribute to a great show. The Nod is a student band and We the Living has a big Madison following, she said.

Jurken pointed to one of the main features of the concert: the cost.

“It’s free,” Jurken said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun, and the Overture Hall is a great venue. For a lot of people, [the concert] is the highlight of ACP.”

The concert is one in a series of free events of the ACP, running April 18 to April 24. Beyond the All Campus Idol, events include the Spring Football Game and a free lunch on Library Mall called “Wear Red, Get Fed,” among others.

WASB organized the ninth annual ACP, which according to Jurken is the nation’s largest alcohol-free week of free events for a college campus.

“We are trying to promote fun and free activities that are alcohol-alternative,” Jurken said. “It’s promoting the onset of spring and the seniors’ graduation. As Robin Williams would say, ‘Spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party.’”

Kibiloski echoed this sentiment, and added ACP also aims to bring the campus together and celebrate Badger pride.

“Everyone is really stressed with homework and classes, and everyone is getting really anxious for summer,” Kibiloski said. “It’s just awesome to get all these free things like a lunch, performances and raffles.”

The Associated Students of Madison and UW also contribute to the development of the ACP.

Students may pick up one free voucher per student ID for a ticket on April 13 beginning at 9 a.m. at the UW Credit Union on State Street.

The first come, first serve vouchers can then be redeemed for reserve tickets at the Overture Center beginning at 4 p.m. on April 24.

I saw them play back in 2003 or so at club 77 or whatever that Union South dump was called. Pretty fun show and I’m glad to see they are coming back and on a real stage.
