After a long day of voting across Madison, the polls closed at 7 p.m. to reveal clear winners in the primaries for District 2 and District 8.
University of Wisconsin students fought to replace Ald. Eli Judge, District 8, who has served on the Madison City Council for two years. UW junior Bryon Eagon won overwhelmingly with 263 votes, followed by UW junior Mark Woulf with 117 votes. UW graduate student Katrina Flores lost her spot in the Spring election by only 7 votes, coming in with a total of 110.
In District 2, Ald. Brenda Konkel fought to maintain her seat and won with 347 votes. UW graduate Bridget Maniaci came in second with 230 votes, followed by Adam Walsh, who lost his spot on the final ballot by 20 votes.
Eagon, Woulf, Konkel and Maniaci will now continue to campaign until the April 7 election, when the city will vote for who will win the final spot on Madison’s City Council.
