Madison's City View Market formerly known as Capitol Centre Foods is getting a new owner, a new name and an updated liquor license.

At a City Council meeting Tuesday night, the grocery store was granted the ability to add wine to its selection.

Capitol Centre Foods, located at 111 N. Broom St., now operates as a grocery store with at home delivery.

The grocery store changed ownership Sunday, with Mitch Eveland listed as the new owner.

The new license coincides with the store's plan to expand.

Eveland's license application started Sept. 26, when the Alcohol License Review Committee introduced the application and referred it to the City Council. The council met Oct. 2 and referred it back to the Alcohol License Review Committee for public hearing, which resulted in a recommendation to grant the license.

The final step was Tuesday's public hearing at the City Council meeting, which followed the Alcohol License Review Committee's recommendation and the official license grant.

Correction: Due to a reporting error, this article should have said the store Capitol Centre Foods is not changing its name and the City View Market name is being used strictly for legal purposes. We regret the error.

Why does everything in Madison have to change. It makes me feel so ancient. Why, God, why?!?!

Anonymous (November 7, 2007 @ 10:53am):

Until they can staff it with someone other than stoned 20 year olds I'll continue to drive off campus for my groceries.

Maybe they could hire some illegals from the Union.
