The Town of Madison Police Department found a dead body underneath a bridge on the south side of the city Sunday afternoon, but the cause and circumstances of death remain unknown.
According to a press release by Chief of Police Scott Gregory, officers reported to the bridge at the 600 block of West Badger Road around noon.
Officers on the scene found a deceased male believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. The cause of death is still under investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled for sometime today.
"The Town of Madison is considering the death to be suspicious pending the results of the autopsy," Gregory said in the release.
The man's name is not being released at this time, and neither the Town of Madison Police Department nor the Dane County Corner's office could be reached for comment as of press time.
In another unexplained incident, the Madison Police Department continues to investigate the death of Madison resident Travis Zeier, who was found on the side of Highway 51 Thursday.
Though the MPD has not yet released the name of the driver, The Capital Times reported 23-year-old Madison resident Jesse Newell was involved in a car crash in the same area the night before Zeier's body was found. Yet MPD's Public Information Officer Mike Hanson said in a press release there is no correlation yet between the two incidents.
"Detectives interviewed this driver … and let him go," Hanson said in a previous interview. "No charges have been filed."
