University of Wisconsin police are searching for a suspect who allegedly robbed a UW student at gunpoint in the early morning hours Thursday.
The suspect has been described as a black male, in his early to mid-twenties, standing 5-foot-11 to six feet tall. According to police, he was wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and displayed a dark-colored handgun at the time of the robbery.
The alleged robbery took place in parking lot No. 51, just off Spring Street, at approximately 2 a.m. yesterday. The UW student was not hurt, but the suspect reportedly fled on foot toward College Court.
Sgt. Jason Whitney said UWPD detectives are currently investigating the case but have found no new leads.
The alleged incident is the third armed robbery reported near the UW campus this week.
Tuesday morning, another UW student was allegedly robbed outside Memorial Union.
That incident occurred a few moments after Madison Police received reports of another armed robbery on State Street.
Madison police, however, later spotted the suspects — who were linked to both alleged robberies — and placed them under arrest.
The Tuesday morning robberies came one week after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on the corner of State and North Henry streets.
With the apparent influx in crime recently, Whitney said police are "concerned."
"With the warm weather and more students out and about, there's a higher likelihood of these things happening," Whitney said.
However, Whitney added that in spite of the recent incidents, robberies and other crimes remain "not common" on the UW campus, but did caution students be on alert.

what the hell? WHERE IS ASM CARING ABOUT THIS? WHERE IS SLAC? WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE ON THIS CAMPUS WHO want to make a difference?
Oh I forgot... they are busy padding their resumes. They dont care about this. It won't get them into law school.

The article didn't need this detail, as it was redundant due to the word "robbery" in the title.
