Police need help from the Madison community in finding Kenji Ohmi, a 20-year-old Wisconsin English as a Second Language Institute student from Japan, who has been reported missing since the early morning hours of Jan. 28.
Ohmi was last seen leaving his home on the 200 block of North Hamilton Street at 6:30 a.m. last Saturday.
Ohmi is 5-feet tall, weighs 120 pounds and reportedly does not speak English,
He was last seen wearing a black jacket, jeans and white sneakers, and was not carrying any bags with him.
The Madison Police Department said there is no new information to report, but the investigation is ongoing.
"We are very concerned for his welfare," Madison Police Public Information Officer Mike Hanson said. "[The case] is receiving top priority for the detectives working the case."
According to Hanson, "nothing suspicious" about the incident has been reported, and he called on the public to help police in the search.
"We need the public's input," he said. "There's not a lot to lead on."
Anyone with information is asked to contact 911 or the MPD's non-emergency number.
Hanson also added the department has contacted Ohmi's family in Japan and is working with the Japanese consulate on the investigation.
