Security cameras in Ogg Hall were not turned on early Monday morning when yet another female student was sexually assaulted in her room, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
Had the cameras been turned on, police might have been able to catch the man accused of sexual assault, who is still at large as of Tuesday night. Ryan McMurtrie, an Ogg Hall resident, said he has heard rumors of cameras in Ogg but is skeptical of their existence.
“I doubt there is anything electronic in Ogg,” McMurtrie said. “The showers don’t even work.”
An Ogg Hall front-desk worker said Tuesday she was unsure if the dormitory has security cameras. UW housing officials have been working on improving security in four residence halls, including Ogg Hall, since last summer.
