After 30 years of work at the University of Wisconsin, Marvin H. Weinswig will retire from his position as dean of the UW School of Pharmacy at the end of this school year.

One of his accomplishments while serving as dean was raising 45 million dollars to fund the creation of a new School of Pharmacy building. He was also instrumental in implementing a new four-year program for students to obtain the Pharm D. professional pharmacy degree.

Weinswig’s co-workers said his efforts have contributed to UW’s high standing as an excellent pharmaceutical research facility, as well as making the university the supplier of 90 percent of Wisconsin’s licensed pharmacists.

Chancellor Wiley said Weinswig’s enthusiasm and expertise were great assets to the School of Pharmacy.

“[Weinswig] has been a creative and energetic leader. His knowledge of the fast-changing pharmacy profession and extensive knowledge in university administration will difficult to replace,” Wiley said in a statement. In his wake, Weinswig leaves a pharmacy program of 500 students.
