A unique music program sponsored by McDonald's will be making a stop by Capitol Square today, featuring the bands Relient K and The Last Goodnight.
Relient K's newest album, Four Score and Seven Years Ago, kicks off with a Beach Boys-styled, a cappella opening and continues with a punk-modern rock rhythm influenced by Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds and Blink 182. The album includes hits such as "Must Have Done Something Right" and "The Best Thing," and the band has made appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O' Brien" and the Billboard 200.
The Last Goodnight, a Connecticut-based band, has a balanced mix of piano and heavy guitar. Their most recent album, Poison Kiss, is an upbeat album with a modern rock vibe inspired by unforgettable musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald and Supertramp. Poison Kiss includes the songs, "Pictures of You," "Poison Kiss" and "Stay Beautiful," each with lingering lyrical meaning. "Pictures of You" details the paths in life that we choose to take and the far-reaching effect that our decisions have on us.
Relient K and The Last Goodnight will be performing free of charge at 6 p.m. today. The concert will be held in the 100 block of State Street.
