Hey everybody, Micky Barnes here. Last week we talked about the importance of not getting caught by your girlfriend when you’re looking at a foxy lady on the street. This week, we’re going to go in a totally different direction. Let’s talk about the importance of making sacrifices.

After I lost my place on “Chicago This Week” to Doug, I felt a little dejected. It’s all Donna’s fault. She made me go to that stupid fundraiser for little Bobby’s preschool. I don’t know how I’m going to come up with the dough necessary for my kid to go to a private preschool now that I’ve lost my TV gig, but I’ll rebound.

What’s important is that I didn’t whine to Donna about how her demands messed up my B-level celebrity status on a local late-night TV show. Relationships are full of sacrifices. There’re some things worth fighting for, and other things that should be let go. Donna has always understood late nights at the office, poker night with the guys on Saturdays, and a few indiscretions, so I felt I owed her. So I lost my gig to Doug. He’s as boring as dirt, but he’s my friend. I’m willing to give up my TV spot to a friend if it means I don’t have to sleep on the couch Sunday night. So the next time your girlfriend wants to drag you away from the guys or something important, think about the sacrifices she has made for you. A small sacrifice goes a long way.
